Supplication

This is taken from a book of pieces called "Liturgical Jazz" and is intended for use in a church service. For me, though, it conjures up images of smoky dives and Philip Marlowe. Congregations that regard the pre-service organ music as wallpaper to be drowned out by catching up on the gossip, even notice it and comment. I've used it as a novelty piece in recitals, too.
