| Description: | Jan Lehtola (b. 1972) — Prélude (2001) for organ
Finnish organist Jan Lehtola (b. 1972) was educated in Helsinki, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, and Paris. His teachers included Olli Porthan, Kari Jussila, Jacques van Oortmerssen, Ludger Lohmann, Louis Robillard, and Naji Hakim. Lehtola has performed extensively around the world, appearing as both a solo artist and with orchestras. He is Lecturer in Organ Music at the Sibelius Academy (The University of the Arts) in Helsinki. His doctoral research was on the music of Oskar Merikanto. Lehtola has worked frequently with contemporary composers and has given the world premieres of more then 100 works. As a recording artist, he has a large discography of organ and chamber music. In particular, Lehtola has made highly-acclaimed first recordings of the complete organ works of numerous 20th century Finnish composers.
