Description:
Edward William Healey (b. 1850) was an organist in Hull, Sunderland and Helensburgh, Scotland.

He was a graduated of Oxford University, where he received the degree of Mus. B. He published a number of organ works, dating from the years 1878 to 1908, when he published "Short Fugal Postlude," which appears to be his final published work.

"Short Fugal Postlude" was published by the Vincent Music Co. Ltd. in 1908, where it appear as "No. 138" in Volume 45 of "The Organ Loft" series.

The work is actually a brief prelude and fugue, as it opens with a short introduction in the key of F minor, and played upon the Swell diapasons.

The fugue itself turns to the major and is attractively written, although the music is very conservative.

There is nothing "adventurous" about any of this, but the music can still have an appeal, and makes for a very solid brief organ work that makes for a nice postlude.

The score is attached below.

I also attached a photo of Helensburgh Parish Church, just in case this with the church where Healey served as organist.

Now THAT is a blue sky!!! :-)
