'Benedictus' is a very little known work by the English organist/composer, Alec Rowley which he composed in 1931 for the Novello Original Compositions series. This beautiful mediative work is very much in the style of Harold Darke, in terms of it's melodic writing, harmonic language, crescendo's and even the numerous key changes which are very subtle. Rowley wrote a substantial body of accessible organ music which were melodious, attractive and usually not too difficult to play. On this recording, I've tried to demonstrate as many different colours as possible ranging from the luscious strings to the full organ of the Father Willis.
