Psalm 43 (after BWV 143)

This arrangement of Psalm 43, a trio with CF in pedal, is based on the aria/choral "Du Friedefürst, Herr Jesu Christ", part 2 of Cantate BWV 143: Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele.

Psalm 43:4
Dan ga ik op tot Gods altaren,
Tot God, mijn God, de bron van vreugd;
Dan zal ik, juichend, stem en snaren
Ten roem van Zijne goedheid paren,
Die, na kortstondig ongeneugt,
Mij eindeloos verheugt.

The rising sequences in the music symbolize the 'going up to Gods altars' of the text. The fermate in the last sentence reflect the 'endless joy'.
