This is the second upload in what I intend to be a series of 6. For my thoughts on this organ please see the last upload. In case you are not familiar with the story behind this piece, it was written when Liszt was living in Rome. He had visited the Sixtine chapel where he had heard both Allegri's 'Miserere' and Mozart's 'Ave Verum Corpus' performed by the chapel choir. He was also struck by the story about Mozart visiting the chapel the previous century and hearing himself the Allegri work. Liszt felt a connection between the 2 composers and wanted to combine both Allegri's piece on the theme of sin and Mozart's piece on the theme of the triumph of love into one work. The resulting piece starts with material based on Allegri and moves onto Mozart in the later sections.
