This work sounds like intimate music, particulary on this organ with its wonderful flutes stops. It's a typical french suite to alternate with gregorian. The first Plein Jeu shows the use of divided stops. By that time, most organists did'nt use the pedal, so the Cantus Firmus was played with left hand and here with the trumpet bass. Using the pedal was let free to the interpreter. This organ has no reeds stops in positiv, but this music can easily be adapted. Guillaume Lasceux belongs to this list of despised composers, as Knecht and others. They just used the organ not in the same way as Couperin or Bach did. They also had discovered pianoforte... just listen to this suite and you can here some romance....
