Alessandro ESPOSITO was born in Bergamo in 1913. A pupil of Agostino Donini, he studied at the “Gaetano Donizetti” music institute in Bergamo and at the “Giuseppe Verdi” conservatory in Milan, where he graduated in piano, organ, oboe, composition and choral music . In 1938 he was appointed titular organist in the basilica of S. Maria Maggiore in Bergamo. From 1941 he was professor of organ and organ composition at the conservatory "Claudio Monteverdi" of Bolzano and from 1951 he began teaching at the "Luigi Cherubini" conservatory in Florence. At the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he had also studied with Fernando Germani, he was a lecturer in two specialization courses. During his concert career, among other things, in Florence he performed the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was also active as a composer and reviewer of ancient pages (Edizioni Carrara). He died in Florence in 1981.
Theme of this composition is the popular Marian song "Mira il tuo popolo", attributed to Mons. Guido Maria Conforti (1835 - 1931), that you can listen to the youtube link.
