Jan Nieland was born in Amsterdam in 1903. He studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and in 1924 he was appointed as organist in the Willibrorduskerk in Amsterdam and untill 1931 he was the organist of the famous Concertgebouw. Later in his life he mainly was a piano teacher. Nieland passed away in 1963.
