Prelude and Fugue in G Flat Major

What a delight to discover this work of Henry Martin, who is a Professor of Music at Rutgers University. My colleague, Jonathan Orwig, has exposed me to this and many other contemporary and romantic compositions and I feel that this piece is a real treasure. For me, finding the right instrument for a composition is key to making a recording a satisfying experience. As soon as I heard the Sonus Paradisi Hauptwerk sample set of the Manuel Rosales organ in Trinity Cathedral, Portland, Oregon, I felt that it was the perfect vehicle. Gorgeous voicing and in a room that is clear and not overly reverberant was the ticket. We, in the Hauptwerk world, are honored that Manuel Rosales took an advisory role in the creation of this sample set.
