The Four Little Flowers of St. Francis (Quattro Fioretti di San Francesco) were commissioned from the Harvard University in 2017. The four musical paintings take inspiration from "Little Flowers of St. Francis" a florilegium divided into 53 short chapters, on the life of Saint Francis of Assisi that was composed at the end of the 14th century.
The third piece, "Fioretto XLIX", (Christ appears to Giovanni della Verna) is mystical piece inspired by a story that happened in the mountain of La Verna in Tuscany (Arezzo): the Appearance of Christ to monk Giovanni. The piece is based on a hieratic choral that arrives to a big final crescendo.
