Composer: Kauffmann, Georg Friedrich
Sample Producer: Voxus Virtual Organs
Sample Set: Müller Grote of Sint Bavo extended
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Baroque
Description:
Kauffmann seems to be the inventor of chorale prelude in which the chorale prelude is not played on the organ, but on a seperate instrument, in this case oboe. The oboe is employed to play the chorale melody, while the organ accompanies the melody in a trio-like texture. The “Harmonische Seelenlust” contains six of these works. In my effort to publish the complete ‘Seelenlust’ I intent to publish these six well. So, here’s the first. I first thought to play the oboe-part on a orchestral sample or something equivalent. But in the end I decided to use the oboe-stop of the Hoofdwerk of the Bavo sample set. The recording is not really live of course. I first played the organ part. After that I played the oboe part and had to mix both recordings.
