I am currently traveling by sailboat (Singlehanding 33' Gaff rigged cutter) from NY harbor to Melbourne, FL.
I am currently close to the SC-GA border.
I am blogging the trip and creating musical sketches as I go along. I seldom have enough Internet access to post to Contrebombarde, but since this evening I do, I will upload some of the pieces. In general, they are quasi-improvisatory, for HW organ, synthesizers and found audio.

The older couple - and by older I suppose I mean older than me - waved and smiled at me as I pulled Artful into the anchorage. Such a warm greeting and such sincere smiles. Perhaps to them any sailor is a kindred spirit. Or maybe they were smiling at my vintage and very "experienced" looking craft - a contrast to the clean, factory fresh lines of their own. It doesn't matter. They radiated warmth. I meant to greet them people personally the next day but first thing in the morning even before the sun had risen I caught sight of their transom leaving the anchorage. And it didn't take me long to follow suit. I know the English fellow I "leant" a gallon of water to the other night meant to come by and chat but all was quiet on his boat and the tide was going out. I too departed. A thousand tiny loses on the journey reinforce the deep reality that we are all "transients" and every encounter has meaning and is precious if we allow it to be.
