Langlais wrote this piece around 1949. The registration is simple : flues 16' and 8' everywhere. It's in a rather dark an instrospective mood with lush harmonies which are most typical Langlais. It could perhaps be seen as a kind of distant heir of the Italian pieces "con durezze e ligature".
For those who would be brave enough to try several listenings, I added the piece on three other organs which have a rich mattres of 16-8 flues, so the order is :
- Caen at 0'
- Salibury at 3'30
- Dortmundt's Sauer at 7'
- Esztergom at 10'30.
