Description: | This recording is dedicated to my dear father, who passed away in 2000. When I was a very young organ player I substituted at many churches to increase my pocket money. He always took me in his car to the places, I could not reach by bike, and listened to my music. This piece by Alfred J. Silver was among his favourites. It always put a smile on his face, when I played it to finish a service. May he rest in piece.
I had been looking for this music since a few years, but could not find it. I did not remember the title nor the name of he composer. A few days ago it suddenly appeared in a big pile of fotocopies. Enjoy it.
Alfred Jethro Silver (1870-1940) was born in England and served several churches, notably St George’s, Windsor. He composed several organ pieces, among them several transcriptions. Jubilate Deo is subtitled, “A Piece for Opening or Closing”. The score is available on imslp.org. |
