Description:
Manuscript Mus. Ms. 30377, owned by the Staatsbibliothek Berlin, contains three Prelude & Fugues by Johann Schneider. In the manuscript they are called just ‘Praeludium’, but since the fugue-part of the pieces is very prominent, I decided to include it in the title. The Präludium in G major is the second one. In its fugue Schneider proves again he knew his counterpoint. The subject of the fugue serves as countersubject of the fugue as well. Each entrance of the subject occurs halfway the previous entrance.
