The soundtrack from the movie "The Rock" is definitely one of my favourites... "Hummel Gets the Rockets" is the very first track on the CD and consists of two major movements: The first one in a somewhat "military" style, accompanying the graveyard scene where Brig. Gen. Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) promises his dead wife to take care of the bereaved of those soldiers fallen under his command.
This movement is what I replayed by ear, and thus titled "The Promise".
The second movement (which I did not transcribe/replay so far), where Hummel and his companions break into a rocket depot, has a more "pushing" character and makes heavy use of drums and e-guitars. Until today, I tried numerous takes on this one but am still failing to transcribe it at least to a halfway satisfying level. That's why I decided to upload just the first movement rather than none at all.
The piece is still a WiP and of course not matching the score, but the best shot I could get so far.
For those who own a 7.1 surround system, an 8-channel FLAC file can be picked up here to get an impression of what it will sound like in my living room:
