Bernhard Krol (1920–2013) — Intermezzo No. 6, op. 87, no. 6 (1987) for organ
German composer Bernhard Krol (1920–2013) was born in Berlin and was educated there and in Vienna. Upon his return to Berlin, he had a long career as a professional orchestral horn player, with the Berlin State Opera (1945–1961), the Berlin Philharmonic (1961–62), and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (1962–79). He wrote more than 200 compositions in a wide variety of genres and instrumentations. His music style was largely tonal, often combining elements of the late German romantic chromaticism of Reger with the clear, transparent textures of Hindemith.
