The "Neumeister" collection of organ works - now owned by Yale University - is a manuscript copy assembled by Johann Gottfried Neumeister (1757–1840) some time after 1790. It contains works by several baroque composers, including 31 previously unknown chorale preludes by J. S. Bach.
These works came to light in modern times more than 30 years ago. I have two recordings of them, and finally purchased a copy of the score a couple of weeks ago.
This setting of "Wir glauben" showcases the glorious 16-foot pleno (with 32-foot pedal) of the Freiberg Silbermann from Sonus Paradisi as it weaves its way through numerous intriguing harmonic shifts and suspensions.
