Description: | Special organ arrangement of Hymn No. 219, "Because I Have Been Given Much" in the LDS Hymnbook.
Original tune by an anonymous composer made into a hymn arrangement by Lowell Mason 1792-1872, and George J. Well, 1803-1887.
My arrangement uses just a very small, delicate registration:
Hoofdwerk:
- Openfluit 8v
Borstwerk:
- Krumhoorn 8v
Bovenwerk:
- Gedekt 16v
- V. di Gamba 8v
Pedaal:
- Pedaal + Bovenwerk
- Praestant 32v (added at very end)
Text is by William Waltham How, 1823-1897:
Verse 1:
Because I have been given much, I too must give;
Because of thy great bounty, Lord, each day I live
I shall divide my gifts from thee With ev'ry brother that I see
Who has the need of help from me
Verse 2:
Because I have been sheltered, fed by thy good care,
I cannot see another's lack and I not share
My glowing fire, my loaf of bread, My roof's safe shelter overhead,
That he too may be comforted
Verse 3:
Because I have been blessed by thy great love, dear Lord.
I'll share thy love again, according to thy word.
I shall give love to those in need; I'll show that love by word and deed:
Thus shall my thanks be thanks indeed. |
