| Description: | Yesterday was Veteran's Day in Great Britain, remembering the fallen in the "Great War", the Second World War and battles overseas since then.
When I came to London about 25 years ago, I attended a Memorial Service in London's St. Bartholomew the Great, an old church, that escaped the Fires of London.
There were some veterans from the Great War, in their nineties still attending the service; their chests full of medals, still remembering like yesterday.
I seldomly witnessed anything so moving.
At the Epitaph in Whitehall there is a yearly memorial on the 11 of november at 11 o clock in the presence of the Queen, members of the government and all who wish to attend.
Nimrod was played there yesterday by the military band, hymns were sung by the choir of Westminster Abbey.
I listened to the BBC service by internet. It is always very impressive.
This version for organ is by Pierre Gouin. |
