Albert Alain (1880 - 1971) was the father of a famous son, Jehan, and daughter, Marie-Claire. He entered the conservatory in Paris and won a first price in 1904. He studied with a.o. Gabriel Fauré and Alexandre Guilmant and Louis Vierne. He wrote 469 pieces of music, many still remain unknown. This piece, Alla Frank (in the score written without a c), is in the style of César Franck and is dedicated to the remembrance of his master, Guilmant. It shows his remarkable skills as a composer.
