Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens (1823 – 1881), was an organist and composer for his instrument. But he was also the founder of the French romantic organ tradition. In March 1849 he was appointed organ teacher at the Royal Brussels Conservatoire. Amongst his many students were Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor.
Hymnus creator alme siderum is part of Lemmen's École d'Orgue, basée sur le plain-chant romain.
