Description: | Manuscript Mus.ms. 22541 II (owned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – PK) contains 73 preludes based on chorales suitable for the Christmas period. I won’t upload all 73 of them, but some 30 or 40. Nevertheless, that’s still a lot of pieces, so I better start now, in an attempt to finish this series before Christmas.
The first is a piece by Kauffmann, based on the prelude “Nun kom der heiden Heiland”. The manuscript contains four preludes by Kauffmann on this choral. I guess they could be played all four one after another as a kind of chorale partita.
Kauffmann prescribes a Vox Humana for the chorale melody. The organ in Steinkirchen does not have an Vox Humana, but it does have the beautiful Krumphorn.
