| Description: | I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Kingsfold) arranged by myself from an idea by Michael Card, who is an American Christian singer-songwriter, musician, author, and radio host from Franklin, Tennessee.
Ralph Vaughan Williams introduced it as a hymn tune in The English Hymnal (1906) as a setting for Horatius Bonar's "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say." It apprears in many hymnals today, with various texts.
The first statement of the "gig" uses the Great 8' Claribel Flute, followed by the Solo 8' Cor Anglais, played up an octave, which gives it a fun harmonica-like sound to my ears. Later on, I let the Solo 8' Tromba have a go! |
