Here is a little tribute to one of our finest organists, Dudley Savage. I was fortunate to hear Dudley play many times. He was one of those rare musicians who never seemed to have an "off day". His technique was always rock solid and he was one of the kindest men that I have ever known. He was very encouraging to me as a young man and would often write with copies of music from his collection that he thought I would like to play.
Many will remember him from his Sunday radio broadcasts on the BBC - "As Prescribed" (1948 to 1979) from that remarkable 3/8 Compton in the ABC Plymouth. This video opens with that all so familiar signature tune - Smiling Through - then it's off into a romp from his own pen - Just For Two.
