Alles wat over ons geschreven is

As a contribution to the Lent project this beautiful Dutch hymn.

The impressive text by Willem Barnard cannot be translated but is a very moving introduction to the Lent season. It is about all that is written about mankind which He is going to bear for us in this His most difficult time of going up to Jerusalem.
The text is printed here for those who can understand Dutch.

The marvelous melody, worthy of ANY Anglican hymn book is by Dutch composer Frits Meertens.

The harmonies are alternatively by Meertens, Hans van Nieuwkoop and some alterations by myself.

The introduction is by Hans van Nieuwkoop, one of Holland's prominent organists and one of the advisors to the restauration of my beautiful Bätz in Oostvoorne.

gaat Gij volbrengen deze laatste dagen,
alle geboden worden thans voldragen,
alle beproeving van de wildernis.

Gods schepping die voor ons gesloten bleef
ontsluit Gij weer, Gij opent onze harten,
die Zoon van David zijt en Man van Smarte,
Koning der Joden die de dood verdreef.

Jezus, de haard van uw aanwezigheid
zal in ons hart een vreugdevuur onsteken.

Gij Hogepriester in der eeuwigheid.
