This is my first contribution to the Lenten Hymns-of-the-Day and was performed on the Demo version of the Zwolle sample set.
The music was written by Robert Lowry (1826 - 1899) and the text by Annie S. Hawkes (1835 - 1918) based on Psalm 143:1 and 2 Nephi
4:16-35. The latter is from The Book of Mormon.
Verse 1:
I need thee every hour. Most gracious Lord.
No tender voice like thine Can peace afford.
(refrain)
I need thee, oh, I need thee; Every hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior; I come to thee!
Verse 2:
I need thee every hour; Stay thou nearby.
Temptations lose their pow'r When thou art nigh.
(refrain)
Verse 3:
I need thee every hour, In joy or pain.
Come quickly and abide, Or life is vain.
(refrain)
Verse 4:
I need thee every hour, Most holy One.
Oh, make me thine indeed, Thou blessed Son!
