Pachelbel wrote a series of 15 Toccatas for organ, still often performed.
The Toccatas of Pachelbel are characterized by virtuosic passages of one or both hands over sustained notes of the pedal.
Many of these touch explore every single melodic motif, written in a simple style in which two voices interact on sustained notes of the pedal.
Johann Christoph Pachelbel (born Nuremberg (German:Nürnberg), baptized 1 September, 1653; died Nürnberg, buried 9 March, 1706) was a German composer and organist.
He is very famous for his organ music. He also wrote other keyboard music and music for the Protestant church.
