Gustav Holst's arrangement of this great tune, first published in a Finnish song book Piae Cantiones in 1582 - the melody has been traced back to a 1360 manuscript. There are several translations, probably the most well known by Jane Marion Joseph for the hymn
'On This Day Earth Shall Ring'.
