In the communist era was an organist who was party secretary. His name was Gabor Lehotka. He did not like to see people go to church to listen to organ music. Therefore, he asked the leaders of the communist party, build organs in concert halls. So several organ built in Hungary between 1975 and 1985. The Jehmlich Organ Factory (Dresden, DDR) was built these organs. Organs built in Vac, Kecskemet, Szombathely and Szekszard. They are very good Organs. These were the first modern baroque organs in Hungary. Gabor Lehotka produced several recordings, primarily the Vac organ.
The Jehlmich organ of Szombathely was built in 1980 in a concert hall, which was once the synagogue. In 1944 were deported and killed all Jew of Szombathely. The empty synagogue remained just the outside walls, inside there's nothing reminiscent of the past. Just a modern concert hall, including the Communist organ. But every organ has a soul, listen ...
My wife had a child in the communist time. When she learned of this work, the piano teacher told her: this piano work is like the Crossroad Chris and when you play it, listen to steps of Christ. At that time it was not allowed to say that. It took courage that can only come from faith.
The two stories now meet: listen to the Communist organ the steps of Christ.
