Prelude - "The Angels' Song"

OK, the next attempt in my little "English music on the Sauer" project is by Stanford (yes I know - he's technically Irish!). It's from the 2nd set of "Six Short Preludes & Postludes". Interestingly, they were written in 1904 - the same year as the Sauer.

I really love these little pieces. This contemplative Prelude makes you think of warm sunny evenings in the endless carefree Edwardian summers - before 1914 came along to change everything. It's on an original theme of Orlando Gibbons.
