Morning Song (Four Songs for Organ)

The last piece in the collection, "Morning Song" is another "mellow, new agey" piece, but it has colorful harmonies, and builds to an impressive conclusion.

To me, the sweep and movement of the piece depicts a beautiful and serene sunrise. It is inscribed: "for Dennis Grannan."

I can't deny that I find it to be appealing... ;-)

"Morning Song" is based on the composer's ballad, "Sky Song," from the leadsheet collection "Night Thoughts." The melodic material also became the middle movement of "Sky Song Fancy". a rhythmic composition for organ solo.

I enjoyed working out and playing these things, but this the last piece that I'll post of this sort - at least for the time being... ;-)
