Share your Advent and Christmas Repertoire with your HW friends!

2014-11-27 - Playing and Pieces

This is the first time in quite a few years that I won't be playing in a church for the seasons of Advent and Christmas.  While that makes me sad, it does give me the chance to learn and share new pieces for these two wonderful church seasons!

With so many people posting new and "unknown" pieces on a daily basis, new and exciting discoveries are to be found on the Concert Hall almost every day!

Since I've been playing a lot of French baroque literature lately, I'll certainly want to do some of the many noel settings to choose from.  I've been wanting to do the Bach canonic variations on "Vom Himmel hoch" for a long time, so, MAYBE I can learn it!  Also, I'll have to something English...

What are YOU planning to play for these seasons?  Why not share it with the community?  It also gives you a chance to "try it out" before you play it, so, I hope you'll take advantage of the opportunity.

While I think of it, please consider posting an Advent hymn or two.  I've pledged myself to do a hymn for EVERY day in Advent, so, please join with me in enriching the sounds of the season!

Wishing everyone a holy and happy Advent,

David

Hi David - no idea how to upload things to the concert hall, but I really enjoyed playing our Hauptwerk temporary set up (STILL working on getting our Norman and Beard up and running). There's a selection of well known carols, one Welsh one, and a few where our little Sunday School use sign language. We are just an "old fashioned" non-conformist chapel, so not sure if this is Advent or Christmas, but even without decent recording equipment, you get a good idea of just how excellent Hauptwerk is. Here is the link to youtube - http://youtu.be/QSyfk0ld6FE

Wishing you a very happy Christmas, and hope you'll be playing soon

Thanks David!
I'm sorry you can not play in a church this Christmas ... but if it takes you time to study and then to register for CH Canonic Variations of Bach, for me it would be great. I'm very interested to hear your version of this masterpiece. Good Advent to you.

Hi Enrico!

Well, I don't know if I can LEARN it, but, in honor of YOU, I'm going to start them as soon as I hit the POST button!

I will try, OK?!? ;-)

With best wishes and friendship,

David
