Looking for music by these composers

Hi everyone. If any of you can help me locate organ music by the composers Jens Rohwer and/or Jean Absil, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Jens Rohwer has at least two that I know of I'd like: Das Juengste Gericht and Nachhall. I tried ordering the first, only to find out six weeks later that it is unavailable, despite still showing on websites that it's attainable. The second I read only exists in a library. He also wrote some settings of chorales specifically for use in the Gottesdienst services to be played while singing (and put together several collections of alternate harmonizations by composers of the time). That said, I'm not too interested in those.

And then by Jean Absil, there are a few that could work for me. Entree solennelle: pour un "Te Deum" from 1968. Trois Pieces por Grande Orgue, Opus 127 from 1965. Also, I think I could adapt his Bandoneum pieces for organ if the others aren't available and this one is: Opus 121 from 1964, 3 Pieces for Bandoneum.

These are ones I know of. If any of you have access to these pieces or know how I can get them, please let me know: dr.dlmckinn@gmail.com

Thanks,

David

Yes, that's the one. I paid the $50, waited six weeks. And then they gave me the money back because they couldn't actually deliver.

RE: Looking for music by these composers

Thanks. Yes, I've looked at all of those as well. Perhaps I should have listed everything I've already tried first so that others don't go chasing things down. Sorry.

The Carus Verlag is almost exclusively choir music, with a couple of other items. The Orgel-Begleitsaetze is in there as well, which is one I'm not that interested in.

The third one I've seen before. I'm not keen on subscription services when I only need one piece. I'd rather just buy it. I also don't know if I'm allowed to download the piece from the subscription one or not? If anyone knows that it will let me, please say so. Then I'll do the free weekly trial and get what I need. But if not, then it's not going to be helpful if I can't put it on my iPad for automatic page-turning.

It's really interesting that you came up with that second hit. The story about women composers in the U.S. is one I knew of for a long time. I am pretty sure I had that issue in my own library for a long time, even. Dr. Pamela Decker is mentioned in it, of course, and that's why Jens Rohwer comes up (so does Roland Ploeger), because she studied with him in Luebeck during her Fulbright. That's the main reason I'm looking for his music, so I can put it into my Music by California Composers who had Fulbrights and their Compositional Mentors series.

RE: Looking for music by these composers

Thank you to all who took time to look and offer suggestions and provide pieces when you could.

I have the 3 pieces for organ by Absil now, and I'm going to try SheetMusicPlus again. I received a 30% off coupon, so I ordered Rohwer and two more works I'll be playing later. I guess we'll know if they are able to locate a copy in 6 weeks or not.

Information on the subscription service, for anyone interested: I signed up to test it, but you cannot do anything with the scores, no downloading, no printing, you can't even screen mirror it from the phone to a larger display! So that's just not helpful for those of us who need to interact with the score and have hands-free page turning available in a different program.

That's my update, thanks!
