Chadwick Theme, Variations and Fugue

I would like to suggest--nay, to implore--that a recording of George Whitefield's "Theme, Variations and Fugue" be uploaded to the Concert Hall. Originally written in 1903 for organ and orchestra, the work was re-written for organ solo some 20 years later by Chadwick's friend and former student, John Wallace Goodrich, with the composer's blessing, and was published in that form. Although this marvelous has been included on several commercial recordings (most notably by the late Richard Ellsasser in 1967 on the organ of the Hammond Castle Museum), it is still largely unknown to the majority of the musical public. The sheet music is freely available for download in the IMSLP archive, and can also be purchased from Michael's Music Service (www.michaelsmusicservice.com). This magnificent piece deserves to be heard! PLEASE, someone--anyone--record and upload it!

Hi Tom.

Here is Chadwick's "Suite in Variation Form"

https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/35544

The piece you mention is a massive work, even more so than the this one I uploaded several years ago. The one I did is as significantly massive, but somewhat less "physical." The physical aspect is more than I can handle now.

I had intended to do "Theme and Variations" some time ago, I'm way too sick to undertake it at this point.

Peace,

David
