Hereford XL

I have both Hereford (full) and Hereford XL installed. Does anyone know if XL will still work if I uninstall Hereford (full) please? I need to free up some disk space.

Many thanks.

RE: Hereford XL

Lavender Audio Hereford 67XLv2 Readme-First - states "Ensure that all of the steps detailed in the Installation section have been completed, such that the standard Hereford 67 stop instrument will load.
Next, install HerefordCathedral-DataPackage67XLv2 and also Hereford-67XLv2-Organ. These files are found in a folder called Hereford-XLv2 on DVD6 and are also freely available to download via the Lavender Audio website Support section."

It sounds like it is an extension or enhancement to the original samples and requires they be loaded first. If you remove them it probably won't work.

That makes sense. I read that but wasn't sure. Thanks for your helpful reply. Much appreciated.

You can uninstall the organ, but not the data files and the XL will work just fine.

"You can uninstall the organ" == i.e. the "organ definition file" (XML, virtually takes just a few kilobytes; so deleting doesn't unclutter much).

All the data files -- which contain the audio samples and thus take up a significant amount of disk space -- need to be left where they are. The Hereford XL is an extension to the "normal" version, providing a few extra ranks, just as my predecessors already mentioned.

I don't think this is exactly the case because if the organ definition file is not uninstalled, the associated cache is not deleted. This file, in the case of Hereford can reach even 20 /24 Gb in size on the hard disk if the sample set is loaded at maximum resolution

Ah OK, forgot about the cache. This may indeed free up something, and in particular for large organs and/or HQ settings.
