Russian music and the War on the Ukranians
I have seen over the months here in the U.K. that concerts with Russian composers have been removed from their concerts.
I read that the likes Rimsky Korsakov, Tchaikovsky etc have their origins in UKraine and used Ukrainian stories in their music.
Should composers pre the communist era be blocked or not?
My opinion is these composers can’t speak for the wrongs of the current situation. Music is meant to be the universal language. Why break it.
I am not trying to be political.
PS. This post was because of a post by Angus Dei and I noticed the Rachmaninov and Rimsky Korsakov.
