Concert Hall website: Thank You, and applause to MIDIWorks

*
... A word of thanks for the Site and PHP updates.

Since my relatively recent arrival here at the Contrebombarde website (December 2018), I have been amazed at the astounding number of "worldwide organists" who gather together here, about the high quality of the uploads, and about the often intensely frequent uploads, that more than often also follow the Calendar of the Ecclesiastical Year or the "Special Sundays" throughout the church years.

Thank you all for being part of my personal and ongoing enjoyment of the world of organ music.

But more than that, I wanted to open this Forum Post to express my fulsome thanks to MIDIWorks for providing, and continuing to provide, this FREE ACCESS website for what I gather are more than four thousand organists and lovers of organ music.

When I or anyone else upload and share some of my pieces, I can share it with friends and family anywhere in the world by sending them a link to the page of my uploaded music, and alert others outside this circle of my music.

I have been VERY impressed with the latest update to the "My Account" page (now PLURAL as "pages"!), and I have done my own Edit to my pages - a massive improvement to my "Show and Tell" page. Thank you, MIDIWorks!

What are your thoughts? Have you explored the changes yet? And is there a need for a "special corner" in the Forum for a discussion and feedback about the changes?

my best regards from Western Australia,

Jack

They do a great job indeed. But maybe it's a bit too early for applause for the current changes, since the website is now still in constructions and there are several erros now (which they undoubtedly will correct).

I'm not sure about the 'free access' part when I read this: https://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/home/user_subscribe
It appears that the special features are only meant for the paid subscribers.

You're right about my "early praise", but I can clearly see how the changes are already impacting on the site's performance; I have some experience in developing websites (but I'm an ignoramus about PHP scripting); an update of the PHP version was years overdue until the current changes were implemented, and the impact on the "User page" is considerable!

On your comments about payments now proposed in the new text of the "donations" page: I will not agree to be "subjected to monthly of fixed periodic payments", although I would be more than happy to make several "once-off" donations: my upload frequency (from here on I do not expect to create more uploads than one to three per year!) do not warrant that expense for me.

I cannot see the comments on my iPhone whatsoever.....

Hopefully this will get fixed too.

It's nice to sit in a chair, make and respond to comments.

While I do appreciate the attention being given to the site, I'm wondering if I am seeing things that no one else sees? I can't recommend - the button lights but doesn't remain lighted like it used to and no recommended number shows on the browse screen.

Also the "Click here to notify (User name) that you are interested in his/her configuration details." is saying "Click here to complete your hardware profile." on the piece uploaded by someone but it takes me to my own account if I click on it. If I click on the "Uploaded by" user name, it shows the correct user info and has the link to notify them that you are interested, but it returns a PHP error.

I'm not complaining if it just needs a little more time to complete the upgrades. Just wondering if this is a browser settings related problem or?

The problems I mentioned earlier have been fixed, thanks to whoever did that! There's another problem with my playlist. Apparently some of the uploaded I had added to the playlist have been deleted by the user. Now I have blanks in the place where there was music. When the player reaches a blank it stops. If I manually click on the next item it plays it and carries on until another blank is reached. Seems like there should be a way to delete those blanks. Does anyone know how to do that?
