What can be done with a troll?

We have a forum member who doesn’t like our job. It is called MusicaOrganica. He exploits a bug in the playlist and occasionally creates a playlist from our uploads (uploads by DominiqueD and Istwann), then starts clicking and each click generates a view. Dominique and Istwann uploaded a few minutes ago, and viewing these uploads is already over 300.
I had once written about this to the contrebombarde staff but got no response.
What could be done? Help me!

RE: What can be done with a troll?

These statistics are surreal; it is absolutely impossible for a work to have been listened to by more than 300 people within minutes of going online. And as if by chance it always concerns the same people. It is absolutely necessary that the moderators of Contrebombarde put an end to this, which harms the good reputation of this site.

Of course, he has already removed his playlist. But I’m sure he’ll continue to be uncomfortable. I tried to write him a private message so he wouldn't do this to us, but he doesn't have any uploads, I can't write to him. I don't know what to do. Yet this is such a good place, here we all appreciate each other, it would be a shame to spoil this.

Sorry, this was me. It won't happen again.
We once had a discussion about linking a playlist to your website. And a month ago and now I wanted to try if that was still the same issue, since I reported it to Contrebombarde. But it got out of hand, since I see now that the whole charts is filled with your sample sets. Sorry, I leave it with that, won't happen again.
But still the point is that when setting a playlist on a website, when you load that website many times, without playing the playlist, the number of views expands. But I think nobody cares for that. So sorry for the inconvenience.

I've send you also a personal message.

MusicaOrganica, look, I’m a retired doctor whose hobby is making Hauptwerk samples. The sample preparation for several months of work. And I give some of my samples for free and some of them at a much lower price than the other sample makers. The contrebombarde website is a great opportunity for me to showcase my new sample sets. And I have two or three organist friends who are fantastic organists and upload amazing pieces with my samples. If you visit contrebombarde.com, you can listen to better organ concerts. Because there are a lot of organists who share their work with you for free and selflessly. They do this to give you pleasure. At the same time, organists monitor how many people listen to their recordings. Because audience feedback is important to them and it inspires their further work. If one of the organists suddenly jumps in viewership numbers, so much so that it can only be accomplished by cheating, everyone will be angry. And the cheating organist will lose his credibility and be stigmatized. In this case, the community will be angry and condemn Istwannn, DominiqueD, and me who make these samples. But you will not be condemned because no one knows about you, you have never uploaded anything and you leave no trace. You have to understand that you have offended more people with your behavior. Now, however, you have signed up and written in this topic, which becomes your honor and I appreciate that. I would like to close this case with this and hope that the staff at contrebombarde.com will soon correct the bug in the playlist that allowed this manipulation.

I didn't want to upset anyone. I'm really sorry for that.

Thanks for your understanding and I hope the bug will be solved!

RE: What can be done with a troll?

Troll seems such a harsh word in this situation. He or she has not used troll behaviour to mock, be rude about, make profane language or defame someone. Granted the person has been naive. The correct term is leveraging views.

Perhaps Contrebombarde owners should make clear that this is not allowed on others performances and their own performances that the relinking of works on the site are prohibited. Leveraging is strictly not allowed.

Hello,

Sorry if we had not gotten back to your email, I checked and I don't seem to have received emails regarding this matter (it may have been filtered to the spam folder - I get about a hundred or so emails every few days so I do miss emails from time to time).

We have worked on the bug on the listens function on both the piece page and playlist listen page. These have now been addressed and on the next major update on our server these have been fixed. Unfortunately this major update is taking a while to complete - a lot of the bugs have been fixed and there has been multiple new features created that should create more engagement for all users.

I will try my best to implement this bug ASAP if it turns out the major update takes longer than anticipated.

Cheers!

Thanks. I hope fixing the bug will prevent some people from turbocharging the viewership over 200 in 5 minutes. :)
