Description: | after a long time away from the organ and CB, I did this recording (first take) today as apreparation for a live performance tomorrow (if I can play it for CB, I can surely play it for a congregation). I was asked to play this piece for a christening and quickly learned and memorized it during the last two weeks.
The Air by Bach is one of the piece I could never play with the score before me - looking at it would be too tempting, and yet disruptive. This piece, in my opinion, can only be performed by heart, without any sheet music, as was the case in this recording.
The score used to memorize it was the solo organ transscription by Gordon Phillips, who tried to retain all the individual voices, and succeeded, imho. |
