Archimedes Ramond (1952–1997) — A Little Rondo for Betsy's Regal (1990)
Archimedes Ramond (1952–1997) was born in New York City to Greek parents and lived most of his life in Sri Lanka where he worked as a teacher of English and music at a missionary school. He composed avocationally in his spare time, producing about 50 pieces for various musical forces, almost entirely compositions for his students.
The composer wrote the following about this piece: "In 1990, my good friend Betsy Wilcox obtained a Renaissance style regal, a keyboard instrument consisting of two sets of early-style reed pipes. She asked me if I'd write a little something for the party at which she would 'unveil' the instrument. I thus wrote her this small Tielman Susato inspired divertissement."
