After the prelude I wrote something that was more like what was asked for. Though I am not virtuosic enough to write a French like Toccata, the music I wrote gives ample possibility to create a nice crescendo. And it ends with some thundering chords, that well could be called "a bang".
Though I really like the result, I don't think it works as a stand-alone piece. It is what was asked for: something to end a choral piece with a bang. Without the preceding choral, it feels like it starts somewhere in the middle.
The best thing to do, is to combine it with the prelude and thus create something on a larger scale. Prelude and postlude combined can become the first part of the piece. After the thundering chords I need something new as a middle section. And after the middle section follows a repetition of the prelude and postlude, only this time not building up to the thundering chords, but towards the closing bars I wrote for the prelude. Could become quite a nice piece.
But it'll take some work. As of yet, I have no good ideas for the middle part.
