Composer: Johann Ludwig Krebs / A. A. Hunt
Sample Producer: OrganArt Media
Sample Set: 1686/1860 Bosch-F.C. Schnitger, Vollenhove, Netherlands
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Baroque
Description:
This is Krebs's Prelude in D-Minor KWV405, the way I think it should be. I left the good parts as-is, improved the decent parts, and removed the bad parts. I set out not to write any new music, just improve what was there, but that was not really possible. Krebs's writing suffers from aimlessness, tediousness, and harmonic confusion. Some of the meandering quality is still there, but it's now not quite as obvious, I think. Most of the transitions and cadences have been completely rewritten. The original is 144 bars long. My version is 85 bars long - still a long piece, but I dare say it is more listenable than the original. You can compare it to the original here http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/32381
