Composer: Gruchow, Benjamin born 1986
Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: Brasov, Buchholz 1835-1839
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Contemporary
Description:
This festive toccata was composed by Benjamin Gruchow, a student of the College for Church Music, Herford-Witten, Germany. It was dedicated to a professor of the same college, Monika Hofmann, to be played by her after the service in the Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem, Palestine, at Christmas Eve 2017 – which I was very lucky to witness... precious memories. The organ was built by Dinse from Berlin, Germany in 1893, but unfortunately substantally changed in 2000, with 26 stops and 16 ranks today.
For the recording, I chose the Buchholz-organ in Brasow - not only for the reason, that Dinse worked in Buchholz’ workshop, but also that Steffen Schlandt, the Brasov organist, played this piece in 2017, too.
Many thanks to Benjamin Gruchow who generously offers the score of this wonderful piece for download here!
