Klaus Velten (b. 1937) — Praeludium VII (2017) for organ
German composer Klaus Velten (b. 1937) was born in Herne/Westphalia. He studied music in Cologne where his primary teachers were Hermann Schröder and Karl Gustav Feilerer. After teaching posts in Cologne and Aachen, he served from 1979 through 2002 as professor of music theory and education at the College of Music and Theatre in Saarbrücken. From 1991 through 1996 he was the head of the college. Velten has also been active as a choral director and has composed and published music in various genres.
