Sonata VI (op. 65/6) Uploaded by: Aarnoud Composer: Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Felix Organ: Müller Grote of Sint Bavo extended Software: Hauptwerk IV Views: 551
Kaufmann wrote three choral preludes to "Vater unser im Himmelreich". The first is a powerfull 4-voice fugue on the first phrase of the chorale melody. Kauffmann shows he knew his counterpoint. The theme enters 12 times, 3 three times in each of the four voices. The score helps hearing each of them, the entries in the middle voices are easily overheard. The source is not clear whether Kauffmann meant the piece to be played manualiter or pedaliter. So I provide two scores, so everyone can pick the score suitable for his preferred style of playing.
As I broke my leg (again...) two weeks ago, I play the manualiter version. Though I doubt that with this 16' based plenum anyone is going to notice the pedals are missing... :-)
