Een vaste burcht is onze God

Gijs van Schoonhoven studied organ, church music, musical theory at the Arnhem Conservatory.

He is the city organist of Enschede.
Also he is attached to the Medical Spectrum West as a church musician.

He gives many concerts each year in Holland and abroad.
He also taught in workshops in Riga, Weimar, Sofia, Birmingham and Lodz.

Gijs specialized in the improvisatorial accompaniment of silent films from the beginning of the twentieth century.

This small choral prelude on A mighty fortress is our God (Een vaste burcht is onze God) in the form of a fanfare (in which the trompetteria of Poblet is used) and his setting of the chorale stem from the Dutch hymnal 1973.
