Description: | Like La Nativité, the second movement of the suite, L'Annonciation is a programmatic piece which is created in the following sections: THE ANGEL GABRIEL, using the hauntingly captivating melody, is reminiscent of the style of Langlais' teacher, Charles Tournemire. THE ViRGIN, a very meditative section with clarinet solo, certainly owes some inspiration from the early works of Olivier Messiaen. THE HEART OF MARY, conveys the restless searching for answers to Angel Gabriel's announcement, and the duet of two flute stops with the pedal playing the Magnificat chant leads to a very slow coda incorporating the last two themes. |
