This is a response to Aarnoud's recordings of the same piece on different sample sets (the Poblet Metzler and the Caen C-C), which Aarnoud uploaded today. His approach made me curious how the piece would sound with a more "symphonic" registration, so I just recorded another version on the Hereford -- while ignoring each and every single registration statement written in the score. ;-)
A side note: This piece has been fascinating me for years. Even though I still can't sight-read this type of composition, I bought the score a while ago and started training... Well, I think it's still way out of reach for me. Thus, many, many thanks to Fazioli, since his upload from late 2011 is the only one that provided a MIDI file! So this is what I used as a basis for the "herefordized" registration and a number of live speed adjustments:
